We already knew that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was going to launch sometime in 'spring 2027 ', but today director Naoki Hamaguchi took to Sony's State of Play livestream to inform us all that the game has a locked-in release date: 8th April, 2027.

The short version

  • It'll launch worldwide, and on all platforms - that's PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 , Xbox Series X/S, and PC - at the same time (the first game in the series to do so).
  • Elsewhere, Square Enix has announced a playable demo for its upcoming HD-2D RPG, Final Fantasy Resonance.
  • Downloadable today (and weighing in at about 5GB), the demo lets you try out the entire first chapter of the game.

What happened

This is about three to five hours of game. And - as Square Enix has got in the habit of doing - it will let you import any save data to the full game when it launches next month.

Why it matters

Though this was announced in a PS5 stream, the demo is also available on Switch, Switch 2 and Xbox.
